Deckbeams

Spent the day today making deckbeams for the a-cat.

The carlins are attached to a fore and aft deck beam with quarter knees.

Side deck beams, about eighteen inches long span the space between carlins and sheerstrakes. The red cedar beams fit in a mortise on the the carlin. It takes four different angles to create each one. This time a few sides are square, but angles must be cut at both ends and for the lap joint.

Patterns for the bulkheads are made from scrap plywood. These are dry fitted and checked so the actual parts will fit correctly.

The cabin sole is fitted and will be glued together so it is one piece, The idea is that this will make the hull stiffer.
