Winter Sleep

URCHIN is spending the winter under her canvas cover at the cape. We decided to leave her there since this is where we want to use her when we are there and did not get her in the water much in Jersey this summer.

Arey's Images

Cape bound. Thinking of Arey's Pond and the sailing from the summer past. It was very fun motoring out to Little Pleasant Bay from the dinghy dock rather than paddling out from the public landing.

Pulled the Boat

Took URCHIN up to the yard today. She was the last boat off the waterfront. Thought perhaps I'd get a last row, but it was blowing to hard and the chop was up. Have to wait for spring. Got a fire in the stove, staying warm.

Waterlily Cruise

Against the tide, up to the Bristol bridge and back with. Sailed up s l o w l y, sometimes standing still over the bottom, but sailing 2 kts through the water. Stood still next to Red 40 buoy for a while with both of us leaving wakes. Had some great puffs, but had to eventually row home to Red Dragon (with the still outgoing tide, made up to 5 kts over ground.). It is amazing that the massive Delaware River reverses direction every six and a half hours or so between Trenton and the Bay.
