Torch

Evening race out of Seaside Park YC. Light air. 11 boats out.

Mousing

Yesterday, I whipped the ends of lines and moused shackles on ELF. The guys were about to bend on the topsail to the jackyards. Can't wait to try that one out.

Earlier in the week I cleaned out two old frames to replace them with some newly bent ones in what may be an early Old Town rowboat. It has the same build style as the canoes, thin planking clench nailed to thin ribs, covered in canvas.

Down Bay Regatta

The A-cat races were canceled because of lightning. So we took the sandbagger BULL out instead. Played around with sailing light, backing the jib, had to run for home when the lightning returned. Had a late lunch on BARNEGAT, what a beautiful lady.

Deckbeams

The sharpie is looking like a boat at this point. Planked bottom and sides. Deckbeams in the bow and in the stern. Used a tool new to me today. It's two long strips of wood joined with a pivot bolt through a lap joint (therefore adjustable). It's used for drawing large radius arcs. Christian & I used it for drawing the arcs describing the stern deck. Then he cut them out from oak.
